With WrestleMania 34 less than a week away, current WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss sat down with DIRECTV to discuss just how personal her upcoming title defense against her former best friend, Nia Jax, will be this Sunday, April 8th on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Will the Five Feet of Fury be able to overcome Jax’s rage at Bliss’ recent treachery? Bliss also discusses teaming up with “The Monster” Braun Strowman, former UFC star Ronda Rousey, the return of Daniel Bryan, and being mom to her pig, Larry Steve.

Watch Alexa Bliss defend her WWE RAW Women’s Championship against Nia Jax, along with over a dozen other matches featuring WWE superstars like John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, and many more this Sunday, April 8th at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans!

You recently revealed your true feelings, albeit inadvertently, towards Nia Jax. What can we expect from your match with her this Sunday?

Well, now its personal! When you’re so close with someone for so long, and then competition is added—plus lies and deceit—there’s a lot of real emotions that go into it. I think that’s what makes this match so special. There are real emotions involved, real feelings. I mean every time we’ve done something together on RAW, it’s been real and it’s been emotional. We were best friends, and we know things about each other than no one else does. Now we have to use that against each other.

This will not only be your second WrestleMania as a competitor, but also your second time walking in as a champion. What does it mean to you to defend your title two years in a row?

Three years ago I went to WrestleMania in New Orleans as one of the extras that helped with Triple H’s entrance. Then last year I thought “Oh cool, I get my own entrance” walking into my first WrestleMania as Smackdown Women’s Champion. I didn’t think anything could get better than that – until now when I’m walking in as RAW Women’s Champion. It’s been an amazing journey, and I couldn’t ask for a better year from the WWE. They’ve been so good to me and given me so many opportunities. It’s crazy to see the differences between this year and last year, character-wise. Even though I feel like I’ve portrayed the same type of person, I feel like my character on Smackdown was different than the character I am now on RAW. It’s been developed more, it has more depth, and I think it’ll be a lot of fun this year. Last year I was in a six-way match and there was a lot going on, but this year there’s an actual one-on-one rivalry between Nia and I. Being former best friends, having that emotion there and that real story—I think it will be a lot of fun to watch, and I think the WWE Universe will hopefully be invested.

Who has been your toughest opponent up until now? And do you think Nia will be even tougher?

Up until now, I’d say Sasha Banks. We’ve had rivalries in NXT and WWE and it’s just one of those things you can’t get away from. I would say Nia will end up being my toughest opponent, because there are so many personal feelings involved. With everyone else like Sasha, Bayley, Becky (Lynch), Charlotte (Flair), it’s all business in the ring. Either I’m going for a championship, or trying to prove that I belong in the same spot as the Four Horsewomen. But now with Nia, it’s all personal.

Aside from your own, are there any matches you’re looking forward to at WrestleMania?

Charlotte and Asuka! I’m really excited about that. I think Asuka choosing Charlotte was a good call because no one has ever seen it. And I don’t think Charlotte was expecting it either. It’ll be interesting! Can Charlotte break Asuka’s streak? Or will Asuka be able to defeat Charlotte, who has a lot on her plate. She’s a legacy and a champion, and she has a certain standard that she has to hold herself to. I think it’s going to be really cool!

Who’s on your bucket list of opponents?

Obviously everyone has the same answer when we talk about dream matches—it’s Trish or Lita! But I’d like to have a match with Ember Moon from NXT. I worked with her a bit in NXT before and she’s an amazing athlete. She has quite a backstory, and I’d love to be able to get in the ring with her.

You’ve recently been working with the Braun Strowman on the Mixed Match Challenge. What has working with him been like?

It’s been really fun working with Braun in the Mixed Match Challenge! Everyone knows he’s this monster, so in order to show a different side of each other we had to go another route. It was a lot of fun to show a softer side to the Monster Among Men, and to give myself a softer side that no one had really seen. All you would see of Alexa Bliss was this mean, bratty girl all the time, and she’s never shown any emotion other than anger—she’s certainly never had a crush, so it’s been a lot of fun to portray that!

What are your feelings on former UFC champion Ronda Rousey competing in WWE?

I’m excited to have Ronda here! She brings something different to the table. She made a name for herself in UFC, they’ve had divisions built around her, and I think she’s just what the Women’s Revolution needs right now. Something different!

Are you excited for the return of Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania?

I am! I’m so excited. I got so emotional when I saw his (un-retirement) speech. I was at Smackdown for the Mixed Match Challenge and when he came out and announced he was coming out of retirement, it was just awesome. We’re all so excited for him! We know how much he loves this business and how much he loves being in the ring, so I’m super excited to see it.

Who is Larry Steve?

Larry Steve is my pig! I got him when I was on Total Divas in Nashville. He’s currently outside eating food, which he does every 5 minutes. He has a food problem. He is gigantic but he’s so loveable and so happy!

What else can we expect from Alexa Bliss in 2018?

I think I’m going to try something a little different with Alexa Bliss in 2018. Lets see how far I can push the envelope, and see what I can get away with!
