All of tech and entertainment converges in Austin, so of course DIRECTV was there. We even brought the blimp.

DIRECTV set out to engage job-seekers, tech enthusiasts, and music and entertainment fans alike at this year’s SXSWi with a experience unlike any other in town. The Digital Entertainment Lab showcased the latest state-of-the-art DIRECTV products. It also provided providing prospective future employees the chance to talk about DIRECTV with onsite HR representatives. (And people say hipsters don’t work.)

To draw attention away from the bustling downtown convention center, the Digital Entertainment Lab was stocked full of free food and drink, spa massage and manicure booths, plus haircut chairs, It also included a Hollywood-themed lounge area where attendees could walk home with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star made by the charming Carmine Goglia himself.

Even the DIRECTV blimp was on hand to lure SXSW-goers to Vuka Austin, the site of our experience. Pictures of attendees were broadcast on the blimp’s big-screen monitors in real time, a DIRECTV event first! To top off the day, the band Cults played an exclusive set in the evening to a few hundred returning daytime attendees.
