Did you ever hear about the time Jerry Lee Lewis shot up $50,000 worth of false teeth? Probably not, but you’ll hear the whole story and others that are just as jaw dropping, on the new CINEMAX® series Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus.
Judge, best known for the hit animated comedies King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-Head, is making a triumphant return to his roots. In this new series, he’s taking us on a trip down memory lane, with some of country music’s most eccentric superstars.
Never one to shy away from adding his own voice to his creations, Judge serves as the narrator and sets the tone for each episode. The series also features interviews with former band mates, friends, and associates of artists like Lewis, Tammy Wynette, Billy Joe Shaver, and Blaze Foley.
We’ve come to expect funny from Judge, but he’s also managed to get the uncensored truth about the exploits of these artists. The coolest part is that they’re all brought to life with live-action footage, photos, and of course, Judge’s unique animation style.
The first episode kicks off with a recounting of some of Johnny Paycheck’s craziest moments, one of which involves a hamburger and a handgun, and it looks like things just ramp up from there. So buckle up, because it’s going to be wild but incredibly hilarious ride!
