This weekend, the New York Jets are hosting the Miami Dolphins in a special Saturday edition of Thursday Night Football. It’s going to be an intense match up when the two teams battle it out at MetLife Stadium. The Jets, not contenders for the playoffs anymore, are eager to play the spoiler. Miami is contending for a wildcard spot and ruining their chances would be sweet revenge for the Jets, whose loss to Miami in November began their season’s downward spiral.

What to look for in this game? Well the last time these teams clashed, on November 6, it was an early lead by the Dolphins with a fourth quarter rally by the Jets that just wasn’t enough to overcome Miami’s initial lead. With Miami at 8-5 this season their record seems to make them the favorite. However, they are 19th in DVOA with a minus-20 point spread. Plus, with an injured Ryan Tannehill, it looks like Miami will field Matt Moore against Bryce Petty. That, according to football opinion-makers, dilutes the supposed advantage Miami has going into the game. However the Dolphins can still rely on star running back Jay Ajayi.

Although the Jets have been underperforming this season, this is a home game for them. The Dolphins are 2-4 on the road and the Sunshine State players might not fare well if the North East weather plays its role, especially considering that’s not where they do most of their practicing.

Miami’s in a close fight for a wild card spot and the Jets are desperate to pull an upset. It’s going to make for a very interesting Saturday game.
